Rainbow Youth inc.
Starting in 1989, Rainbow Youth in Auckland is the longest running support service for queer youth in New Zealand. In addition to partnering with the NZ AIDS Foundation to create OUT THERE!, Rainbow Youth facilitates regular groups where queer and trans youth can meet, socialise, and gain support from others experiencing similar issues. These groups are a safe place to find answers to questions with supportive friends. Rainbow Youth also continues to facilitate workshops in schools to increase awareness of sexual identity and orientation, and share experiences of coming out. Workshops are designed to fit with the Health and Physical Education curriculum, and continue to aim to decrease homophobia and create safe, supportive learning and working environments for everyone. Currently Rainbow Youth is expanding their work in schools by setting up support groups and providing schools with the means to support their students.

The Lowdown Youth Depression Website
The Lowdown provides information for 13-24 year olds that will allow users to identify depression in themselves and others, better understand it and get help for it through a variety of interactive online tools. The Lowdown Team of qualified counsellors can be accessed through the site, via free text (5626) and email. After sending a message by email or text to a counsellor they will receive a personalised response as quickly as possible, and within 12 hours. The site also promotes the use of self-help strategies such as exercise, which can be helpful for dealing with mild and moderate depression.
It is important for people who are experiencing depression to get help as early as possible, it is also important for them to find a treatment that works for them. To assist this process a host of useful information and advice is available, with fact sheets, Frequently Asked Questions, a self assessment questionnaire and details of other help services.
